The Value of a Different Perspective Pt. 2

Proverbs 11:14 “Where there is no guidance the people fall, but in an abundance of counselors there is victory.” NASB

When I started down the path of the Consulting profession I wanted scriptures to validate it.  While I was unable to find Consulting in the five-fold I was able to find scriptures like the one above that speaks to the importance of guidance or “good advice”.  There are a few variations of the scripture depending on your preference in version, but the main idea is that without good advice, people will fall and with the abundance of good advice there is (promised) victory.  That’s right leaders, your victory is promised and not by me but by Him!

Advice for me is more than giving an opinion, it’s about sharing a perspective.  We all have a perspective, it is shaped by our upbringing, environment, experiences etc and it represents a lens on how each one of us views the world.  While we may share political parties or even a favorite football team, our perspectives are distinctly unique to our individual selves, and they are priceless, and this is why I think God goes above and beyond to not only shape your perspective but to protect it as well.  There are a number of scriptures where God utilized the environment to shape a perspective for his ultimate good.  Just look at the journey of Moses, he grew up in luxury and was shaped in the desert, this paradox of training made him uniquely capable to accomplish what he accomplished because he had the perspective for it.  God has put in you a unique view point and particular circumstances that have shaped you into the person you are and when we collaborate and see a more full picture we are ultimately stronger and have victory.

It may not be Midian Solutions that you call when you have opportunities at your church, which is fine but please call someone who will give you “good advice.”  The goal is to open you up to the idea that there is value in different perspectives that each of us holds within us a perspective that is valuable, unique, a gift to the world and the very thing that takes your church from glory to glory.
